I’ve been on this blog for a little over a week or so and I have to say, I love it. It’s great to get to connect with all you other writers out there. If you’re like me, you know that connecting with normal people (I use the term “Normal” loosely) can be daunting. Mostly because we have problems turning off our synergitic nature. Not really sure what I mean?

Prime example!

Picture talking to someone at a party or social event. They begin to rant on about their life and then you find yourself escaping out the backdoor of your thoughts, running down the alley of your mind. You make note of the tattered edges of the table cloth covering the round stained wood you sit at while the person continues to talk. Then, you gently slide your hand over the fabric. You thought the fabric was made of silk, but instead it’s just typical cloth. You remember to keep this self interaction you had in mind for later for some sort of character environment placement as you scramble back up the alley and dive through the backdoor just as the person stops talking. A part of you may have heard the conversation and you may be able to continue on without skipping a beat unless they ended it with question. Then, your screwed.

It’s just hard for us to turn off the writer gene. It’s ok though because now I’m in a place where people can relate to me (hopefully). People that are not writers just don’t understand the detail we grab from reality.

So thanks everyone. Thanks for interacting with me and making your blog so I know I’m not the only one. Thanks for stopping by. Follow me and like me please! I’ll be sure to stop by your blog and see what your synergy has put together!

I was looking at the leaves on a tree wave as the wind gusted by at a barbeque a few years ago, and I thought to myself “I’m going to describe my main character looking at this very image one day”. It wasn’t till later that I recently that I realized what I was doing. The fact is that  I am a synergist. In order to explain what that is, you have to understand the meaning of synergy. Don’t worry, I won’t trouble you to look it up.

Synergy is the creation of a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts.

Now consider your own writing process and where you derive your ideas mainly. For example, I look around me everywhere I go to remember the slightest detail about things and moments that I can put on paper to make an idea better. Do you find yourself doing this with your everyday life as well? We look at scenery or listen to music that lingers in our minds to form ideas. In doing so, we can make all these lonely ideas come together in our very own creation on paper. It all comes back to synergy. The way we take so many different things and attributes in life and conform them into one sentence. One page. One story.

We all create synergy on paper by writing about these compiled images and memories all brought together to make an enhanced moment. So enhanced that the reader can see or sometimes feel what we write. I guess this means you should consider yourself a synergist, too. Now I’m not the only weirdo in the blog. Thanks!
