Writing a novel is very enduring. I’ve always thought I could create an outline and get all the snags of plot movement out of the formula, but I’m beginning to discover it doesn’t quite work like it should seem.

Their are just things you can’t see in your story until you actually take a seat and put pen to paper or whatever writing weapon you choose). The word count my not be long enough and how do you connect subplot A to B without making it look forced or out of sync? No one likes to read a scene that doesn’t quite belong in your book after all.

These are all things I’m starting to learn now that I’ve taken my writing career seriously. I don’t want to sound like a downer or anything, but I just wanted to tell all you other writers out there how my process was coming along. Maybe it’s different for you?   1. Whenever I get stuck I have an extensive collection of Writer’s Digest magazines as well as The Writer Magazine. I read other writers tips, advice, etc. And I hit it again. It makes me feel better knowing, even the greatest writers get hung too 🙂

    1. Hey, Evy! Glad you can relate. I never thought to look into writer magazines as a source. Definitely something I’m going to have to look into some can build my own library of resources. Thanks for sharing

      1. You’re most welcome. Also another source, a book called Writing Well by William Zinsser. I also read authors who have great plots, I read as a student, dissecting the book. Studying the pace, the characters, how they evolve..everything. I highly recommend the writer’s magazines, I have a subscription to both as well as a subscription to The Poet’s and Writer’s magazine. You will not be disappointed!

  2. I’m also struggling with a plot right now. I’ve added a different kind of idea to the novel I’m currently working on. It’s still a romance but there is a twist I’ve never done and trying to pull it into the story has been challenging. I’ve found two episodes now that I’ve dropped the idea in but how will I build it in so that I can complete it? I just don’t know yet. I hope it comes to me or I will have to drop it all together and I hate to do that. I think it adds that bit extra to the story.
